PDFMatt Luka joined Lauro & Singer in 2023 after nineteen years at Trombley & Hanes, P.A. in Tampa, FL. Prior to that, Matt was a law clerk to the Honorable Mark A. Pizzo, United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. Matt primarily practices in the areas of federal and state criminal defense and civil litigation. Matt was born in St. Paul Minnesota in 1976 and grew up in Orlando, Florida. Matt received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, in 1998 and went on to law school at the University of Florida where he graduated with honors in 2001. Matt played football at Washington & Lee where he was named conference defensive player of the week twice and was named to the all-conference team as an outside linebacker. He was also named to the Dean’s List in 1996 and 1997 and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Academic Honor Role in 1997. In law school, Matt was a member of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Team from 2000 to 2001 where he won the Best Brief Award at the Florida Worker’s Compensation Competition. Matt also received Honors in Appellate Advocacy and was named to the Honor Roll in Spring 2000, Fall 2000, Spring 2001 and Fall 2001.
