Justin F. Song is Senior Counsel at Lauro & Singer’s Washington D.C. office.
Mr. Song is a former federal prosecutor, and joined Lauro & Singer from the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. During his tenure as an Assistant United States Attorney (“AUSA”), Mr. Song led teams investigating a wide variety of domestic and international criminal violations, including those involving complex financial frauds. His casework as an AUSA also focused on high-stakes violent crime. As part of that mission, Mr. Song has led prosecutions of violent federal conspiracies involving homicides, multi-jurisdictional kidnappings, robberies, and carjackings. Mr. Song was also involved in multi-year prosecutions of gangs that engaged in firearm and narcotics trafficking – one of which he tried to guilty verdicts after a three-week trial in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
Mr. Song’s work in these matters earned him a reputation as a go-to prosecutor for important cases, and in 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office named Mr. Song as a recipient of the 2024 U.S. Attorney Impact Award. In that Award, the U.S. Attorney’s Office wrote “AUSA Justin Song is an outstanding prosecutor whose meteoric rise through the Office is wholly attributable to his superb work ethic, keen intellect, and exceptional ability to work with and manage people,” and that he was “the best possible representative of this Office.” Mr. Song received numerous additional awards for individual cases he led during his time as an AUSA.
Prior to his government service, Mr. Song was an associate at two major New York City law firms, where he represented clients in complex commercial litigations and major Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. In between those two firms, he clerked for a federal judge in the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Song earned his JD from Cornell Law School, where he was a managing editor of the Cornell International Law Journal, and was the Academic and Career Chair for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. He is originally from the Finger Lakes region in upstate New York.
